We took up a special offering this past Sunday at Summit Crossing for Haiti. We offered this special offering time during all three of our services, and we collected right at $11,000. We will send this money to an organization called churcheshelpingchurches. We showed a video during our service that Mark Driscoll, the pastor at Mars Hill had put together. In the video, another pastor made the following statement, “God will not abandon His church, we need to make sure we don’t.” That was such a powerful statement, and I am thankful that I am apart of a church that is committed to the gospel. We have been preaching and teaching living out the gospel now for months, and this is evidence that the body at Summit Crossing is on board with truly living out the gospel not just talking about it. What is so cool about Sunday is that our normal offerings were very strong, which means this special offering was truly a sacrifice. As a church, I feel we have turned a corner in loving our city and loving the world. It’s exciting to watch the idea of missional living move from philosophical to practice. In other words, living out the gospel in creative and intentional ways is something we are seeing and not something we are just talking about. Let’s continue to press on… I want to challenge us all to live out the mission of God through community. Continue working together as a group to impact our city and world with the love of Christ. These are exciting days… I love you Summit Crossing!
