Baptism is the immersion of a Christian under water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It’s an act of obedience that tells the church and the world that we’ve placed our faith in Jesus as Savior and Lord. Baptism doesn’t save us, but it tells the world that we’ve been saved by God through faith in Jesus.
Baptism pictures the good news of the gospel: Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead. In baptism, we symbolize that we’ve died to sin, buried our old way of life beneath the water, and been raised out of the water to walk in newness of life.
